411 on the Dalton SPS Sediment Removal

Removing this sediment will allow the region's debris basins to be cleared more quickly after future storms.

County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (County) will be removing sediment from Dalton Sediment Placement Site (Dalton SPS) to restore capacity. Dalton SPS is the regional sediment disposal location for the recently burned Colby Fire area, but is currently full of sediment from past activities. Removing this sediment will allow the region’s debris basins to be cleared more quickly after future storms. Sediment removed from Dalton SPS will be transported to Manning Pit.   

TRUCK ROUTE  

Sediment from Dalton SPS will be hauled to Manning Pit located in the City of Irwindale, CA. Trucks will travel along the following route: South on Glendora Mountain Road, East onto Sierra Madre Ave., South onto N. Valley Center Ave., East onto E. Foothill Blvd., South onto S. Lone Hill Ave., Merge onto FWY I-210 W Freeway, exit at and drive South on Irwindale Ave., East onto W. Gladstone Ave., South onto S. Vincent Ave. and arrive at Manning Pit. Outbound trucks will exit Manning pit and go North onto S. Vincent Ave., East onto E. Arrow Highway, North onto S. Azusa Ave and Merge onto E I-210 Freeway. After 2:00 PM half the inbound trucks will use the Vincent Avenue route and the other half will use the Azusa Avenue route to Manning Pit.
   

HOURS / DAY

Trucks will begin transporting sediment on Wednesday June 11, 2014. County crews are authorized to work Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with approximately 75 truck trips per hour. The work will take approximately five to seven weeks. Truck drivers have been instructed not to drive along residential streets before 7:00 am.
