Woman Hit by Car in Effort to Save Her Two Children

A woman pushes her children out of the way just before she is struck.

A mother is recovering at County USC Medical Center after being struck by a car Thursday night after pushing her two children to safety.

The accident happened at about 7:20 p.m. just east of the intersection of South Grand and Gladstone avenues. The 35-year-old mother was walking along Gladstone Avenue with her two children when both kids darted out into the street.

She ran out to grab them as she saw a car quickly traveling eastbound on Gladstone Avenue. She pushed the two kids out of harm’s way, but she was struck by the car, said Glendora Police Lt. Rob Lamborghini.

Lamborghini said the mother is expected to recover. The accident is under investigation.
