Vehicle Strikes American Legion Building
Cause unclear as Finkbiner Park building suffers little damage.
A yoga class inside the at Finkbiner Park was given a rude interruption when a car traveling north on Cullen struck another vehicle, jumped the curb into the park, and struck the building Thursday evening.
Though the cause of the accident was unclear, there were no immediately apparent mitigating factors, according to Glendora Police Officer Schmidt. The green Ford truck had just completed a left turn from Foothill on to Cullen, and was traveling north when the incident occurred.
The Ford drove over about 100 feet of grass and eventually wedged itself against the American Legion Building, which suffered little damage in the accident, and had to be pulled from the park with a tow truck cable. No one at Finkbiner Park appeared to be injured. The other car, a black Lexus, which was hit by the ford when it initially lost control on Cullen, suffered significantly less damage, but was also towed away.
The driver of the Ford, who identified himself as Curtis Damon, complained of general injuries but turned down an ambulance. He said he could not remember what happened after he made the successful left turn from Foothill to Cullen. The status of the driver of the Lexus was unknown.
