Updated: Jacknifed Big Rig Clogs Up 134 to 210 Transition

Caltrans made repairs on a broken guardrail during the lengthy closure.

A big rig hauling two trailers loaded with clothes jackknifed and overturned today on the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway transition to the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway, causing a huge headache for motorists on a rainy Monday morning, the Highway Patrol reported.

But no injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred when the driver lost control of the rig while transitioning from the 134 onto the westbound 210 at 2:05 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Adam Eggleston.

According to a CHP incident report, the rear-most trailer detached and overturned on the (210) westbound continuation road.

"The tractor truck and front trailer continued out of control and collided with the metal/wood guardrail on the south ... edge of the continuation road, (then) jackknifed within the dirt embankment separating the transition road from the 710 northbound transition" to the 210 Freeway, according to the report.

The eastbound 134 Freeway transition to the westbound 210 was expected to remain closed through around 1 p.m. for guardrail repairs and cleanup.
