Three Men Arrested In Connection With Walmart Carjacking

Glendora Police arrested three suspects linked to a reported carjacking that occurred in the Walmart parking lot Oct. 19.

Arrested were Gabriel Castro, 25, from Upland, Ernie Castro, 22, from Rialto and Angel Martinez, 18 from Pomona. All three suspects were booked on suspicion of carjacking. Ernie Castro and Gabriel Castro are being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Martinez is being held on a no-bail warrant.

The carjacking took place at 1 a.m. in the Walmart parking lot. The victim was approached by two male Hispanics and was robbed of his wallet at gunpoint. The suspects then forcibly took the victim's Blue Volvo S40 and fled south on the interstate 57 freeway, said Lieutenant Brian Summers of Glendora Police in a written statement.

The Volvo was later found in the 1300 block of Thomas Street in Pomona after having been crashed into a wall. Three men were seen running from the Volvo police said.

On Oct. 25, Glendora detectives followed up on some leads and located a second suspect vehicle in the 700 block of San Francisco Street in Pomona. Glendora detectives arrested Gabriel Castro. Detectives then arrested Ernie Castro and Martinez in a nearby house, Summers said.

All three suspects were booked for carjacking. Gabriel Castro is facing additional charges, including identity theft and possession of a controlled substance. They are due to be arraigned at Citrus Court in West Covina on Tuesday, October 29, Summers said.
