Three Injured in Solo Crash on Glendora Mountain Road

Glendora Police, Los Angeles County Fire locate three injured on winding road. Cause of crash still under investigation.

Three occupants were injured after their silver four-door car fell about 75 feet over the side of Glendora Mountain Road Sunday night.

The solo crash happened around 9 p.m. near mile marker 10.63 close to Glendora Ridge Motorway. Glendora Police were the first to respond, but locating the injured parties was difficult. The injured lost their bearings after the crash and could not provide a mile marker to authorities, police reported.

All three victims suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to Lt. James DeMond of Glendora Police.

Two of the three injured parties were able to walk away from their injuries, according to police. The third injured was hoisted by helicopter and was transported to County USC Medical Center, according to LA County fire officials.

Authorities were in phone contact with one of the injured riders while an officer traversed the dark and winding road.

Police had little choice but to use their emergency lights and sirens to ask the injured if their squad cars were approaching the crash, authorities said. At least one of the injured parties used a flashlight to try and give Glendora Police some help in locating them.

The victims had difficulty getting up to the road, police said.

About 15 minutes after the crash, Glendora Police finally located the crash, descended the side of the road and began administering first aid. Fire personnel from station 86 on Amelia Avenue arrived soon after. Units from the California Highway Patrol, agency of jurisdiction for the county portion of GMR, were also on scene.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the CHP.
