Suspects With Gun, Drugs Lead Deputies on Vehicle Pursuit

Two men attempted to avoid a planned DUI checkpoint in San Dimas and fled in a car stashed with drugs and a gun.

Two men are in custody after leading Los Angeles County Sheriffs deputies on a short vehicle pursuit in San Dimas and abandoning their car stashed with drugs and a gun in Glendora Friday night.

The pursuit began in San Dimas in the area of Arrow Highway and Valley Center Drive in San Dimas at around 11:10 p.m. San Dimas Sheriffs were conducting a DUI checkpoint when a 2013 Chevy Impala tried to pull out of the checkpoint line, nearly hitting a volunteer, said Lt. David Vega.

The car drove about a mile with deputies in pursuit before the suspects abandoned the vehicle in a dead end street in the 500 block of Essex Street in Glendora.

With the help of Glendora Police, deputies set up a containment and found the suspects in the area.  

A gun and narcotics were found in the abandoned vehicle.

Oscar Gonzales, 36, and Jesse Corona, 32, were booked on various drugs and weapons charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, evading police and possession of narcotics for sale and transportation.
