Suspects in 2011 Robbery Spree Sentenced

Two of the three suspects who went on a three-city robbery spree accepted a plea deal and were sentenced Thursday.

Two suspects arrested in connection to a 2011 robbery spree in Glendora, Azusa and Covina were sentenced Thursday in a Pomona courthouse.

Domonique Evans-Knowles, 19, of Glendora pleaded no contest to two counts of second degree robbery, attempted second degree robbery and criminal threats, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

A Superior Court judge sentenced Evans-Knowles to four years and four months in prison.

As part of a plea bargain, three counts of robbery and one count of assault were dismissed, Shiara Divila Morales, spokeswoman for the District Attorney, told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

The second suspect, Dominique Carr, 20, of Riverside received two years in prison after pleading no contest to second degree robbery. One count of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of robbery were dismissed at his sentencing.

The third suspect in the robbery, Vaughn Autry, 20, of Los Angeles will appear May 14 in a Pomona courthouse for his sentencing.

According to detectives, the three men committed eight robberies on Nov. 1, 2011.

Four of the robberies occurred in Glendora, said police.

The defendants targeted young adults walking or riding bikes alone on the street after dark.

One of the defendants brandished a handgun during the robberies and physical force was used to take items such as iPods, cellphones, wallets and credit cards.
