Suspect Arrested in Threat Against Off-Duty Officer

Suspect located hours after escaping authorities in initial chase.

A man who allegedly threatened an off-duty officer, then eluded capture, was arrested when spotted early today in Glendora, officials said.

Officers arrested Daniel Ceballos, 26, for allegedly threatening and obstructing police, Glendora police Lt. Rob Lamborghini said.

The initial incident occurred Friday at 5:45 p.m. in the 400 block of W. Renwick Avenue, Lamborghini said.

"The suspect knew the person was an off-duty officer beforehand," said Lt. James DeMond. The suspect had gone to the officer's house and yelled at and threatened the officer, the lieutenant said.

The off-duty officer chased the suspect, with assistance from Glendora police, but he managed to elude capture.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. today, Glendora police recognized Ceballos while patrolling the area of Grand Avenue and Arrow Highway, Lamborghini said.

Officers chased the fleeing suspect, tackled and collared him, Lamborghini said.

It was unclear for which agency the off-duty officer works.

Ceballos was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and was ordered to appear at the West Covina Courthouse Monday, police said.
