Slick Roads Cause of Early Morning Accident

Fast-moving cold front blamed for solo crash.

Rain-slick roads were the likely cause of an early morning crash on Route 66 just east of Compromise Line Road.

The crash occurred just before 7 a.m. when the driver was making their way to Glendora High School turned westbound from Lope Lane onto Route 66 and lost control of their 1994 Chevrolet Suburban. The driver over-corrected and subsequently jumped the curb knocking down a city tree and sheering off a fire hydrant, according to Lt. Brian Summers.

The vehicle came to a rest on top of the hydrant.
