Sheriff's Identify Suspect Involved in Ralphs Shooting

Glendora resident Luis Varela, Jr., 29, is also suspected of several robberies in Glendora prior to the shooting.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau has identified the suspect involved in a shootout with Glendora Police officers Saturday night.

According to a press statement, Luis Varela, Jr., 29, has been identified as the suspect in the   655 S. Grand Ave.

According to detectives, Varela is suspected of committing several robberies in Glendora prior to the shooting Saturday. Varela was also wanted for a parole violation.

Varela was wounded in the gunfire and is still listed in critical condition.

The Sheriff’s Department is currently continuing its investigation into the shooting and has not released any further information at this time.
