San Dimas Deputies Unable to Nab Burglary Suspect

A nearby preschool was placed on lockdown while deputies searched for a burglary suspect.

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas station were on a lookout for a burglary suspect who reportedly broke into a residence near a preschool Monday morning.

The attempted burglary occurred at around 9 a.m. on Billow Avenue in San Dimas. A resident called police alleging that a man tried to force his way into their home and burglarize it.

By the time deputies arrived, they determined the suspect had been gone for at least 10 to 15 minutes.

San Dimas deputies used a helicopter to search for the suspect, but could not find anyone matching the description, according to Sgt. Riley. According to scanner reports, the suspect was described as Hispanic wearing a beanie and baseball bat.

Arrow Montessori Preschool was temporarily placed on lockdown during the search.
