Police Find Theft Suspect, Discover Jars of Hash

A theft of gas cans from a gardening truck and subsequent search leads to a surprising find.

Glendora Police discovered nearly 12 mason jars filled with hash oil at residence while searching for a man suspected of stealing gas cans from the back of gardening truck earlier in the day.

Officers arrested William Bodzar, 19, of Glendora, on suspicion of receiving known stolen property. Officers also arrested Mary Leochner, 50, on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale.

Officers received a call of a man appearing to steal gas cans from the back of the truck on N. Live Oak Avenue north of Sierra Madre before noon. Witnesses observed the suspect's vehicle and took down the license plate number, police said.

Glendora Police were able to track down Bodzar to a residence in the 500 block of N. Vermont Avenue. When officers arrived, they observed nearly 12 mason jars containing hash oil inside the residence, said Lt. James DeMond of Glendora Police.

Hash oil is a resin form of the cannabis plant obtained by extraction with solvents.

Officers obtained a search warrant and seized the mason jars and eventually arrested a resident of the house, Mary Leochner, 50, on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale.

Both suspects were held in lieu of $20,000 bail, while Leochner was cited and released.

Bodzar is set to make a court appearance Monday, February 6, while Leochner is set to appear in court April 5.
