Police Blotter: Thefts, Vehicle Burglaries and Stolen Whiskey

Local police activity for the week of April 30 to May 6.

The following information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, April 30. Sgt. Matt Williams and Sgt. Matt Egan on duty.

  • 12:21 a.m. - Police investigated a suspicious occupied vehicle in the 400 block of West Gladstone Street and arrested the 27-year-old driver on an outstanding warrant. The driver was eventually cited and released.
  • 8:45 a.m. - Officers investigated a Glendora Municipal Code Violation at , 435 West Foothill Blvd. Employees alleged a transient was begging for money and was bothering customers. Police arrested Lonny Ringger, 49, on an outstanding warrant. Ringger was cited and released.
  • 2:11 p.m. - Authorities were called to , 655 South Grand Avenue, on a fraud in progress call. Police arrested Christopher Hernandez, 26, on suspicion of intent to defraud. Hernandez was eventually released for a court appearance.
  • 2:38 p.m. - A caller near Verizon Wireless, 1331 South Lone Hill Avenue reported a theft of an orange-colored purse from their vehicle. Two women were suspected in the theft and fled in an older-model red Trans Am. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • 7:05 p.m. - Officers investigated a burglary report in the 400 block of North Willowgrove Avenue.
  • 9:28 p.m. - Police were informed of a theft in progress at , 1225 South Lone Hill Avenue. Store employees allege a man in his 30s stole a pair of shoes and miscellaneous items and fled in a white pickup truck. Police were unable to find the suspect.


Tuesday, May 1. Sgt. Matt Williams and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 10:28 a.m. - Authorities were called to the 1100 block of East Route 66 on a trespassing report. Police arrested 52-year-old Joan Kiesow on nine warrants involving trespassing, failure to appear on a written promise and battery. Kiesow was eventually cited and released.
  • 11 a.m. - Police investigated a theft report in the 1300 block of East Gladstone Street. The late-reported theft of a Nook Tablet was stolen from Barnes and Noble, reportedly last night.
  • 2:12 p.m. - Officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 1400 block of East Route 66. A cargo trailer was reported stolen. The owner could not tell when the theft might have occurred, Williams said.
  • 7:58 a.m. - Police conducted a pedestrian check at and arrested known transient on suspicion of trespassing. The suspect was cited and released.
  • 9:32 p.m. - Authorities investigated a vehicle burglary report in a parking lot at . Undisclosed items were taken from a white Ford Fusion.


Wednesday, May 2. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • 2:36 a.m. - Police investigated a suspicious occupied vehicle in the 800 block of East Claraday Street and arrested the subject on an outstanding warrant stemming from DUI. The subject was held in lieu of $150,000 until an eventual release and citation.
  • 7:06 a.m. - Police investigated a vehicle burglary report in the 1000 block of East Route 66.
  • 10:18 a.m. - Officers investigated a grand theft auto report in the 600 block of South Elwood Avenue.
  • 12:50 p.m. - Police were hailed near the 400 block of West Route 66. A citizen alleged a man was drunk in public. Police located the man near the Am pm and arrested Brian Jones, 41, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. The subject was cited and released.
  • 4 p.m. - Officers were called to Ralphs on a disturbance call involving an argument between two people. Police arrived and arrested Joseph Robles, 41, and Donna Davis, 49, both on suspicion of trespassing. Robles was additionally charged with disorderly conduct from alcohol. Both were held in lieu of $500 bail. Robles was eventually cited and released.
  • 5:34 p.m. - A disturbance was reported to . Authorities arrested Wayne Saunders, 34, on suspicion of making criminal threats. Saunders reportedly made threats to family members, said Lieutenant Brian Summers. Saunders was held in lieu of $50,000 bail before being released for a court appearance.


Thursday, May 3. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 3:32 a.m. - Authorities investigated a vehicle burglary report on South Vista Bonita at Ada avenues.
  • 9:16 a.m. - Police investigated a report of suspicious circumstances in the 100 block of North Live Oak Avenue. Police followed the car and performed a traffic stop on South Grand Avenue near Lochleven Street and arrested Marcos Carrillo, 34, on an outstanding warrant. Carrillo was held in lieu of $1,247 bail.
  • 4:20 p.m. - Officers received a call of a reckless vehicle on westbound Route 66 near Glendora Avenue. A caller alleged the driver of a white truck was speeding, slowing down abruptly and was cutting off vehicles. Police arrived, located the vehicle in a nearby gas station and arrested Jeffrey Smith, 49, on suspicion of possessing controlled substance paraphernalia. Smith was eventually issued a citation.
  • 5:42 p.m. - Police were called to , 1000 West Foothill Blvd. on a vandalism in progress call. The caller told officers a man had used a marker to tag a wall in a campus library restroom.


Friday, May 4. Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • 8:09 a.m. - Police investigated a vandalism report in the 800 block of West Carroll Avenue.
  • 12:11 p.m. - Police investigated a municipal code violation in the 1400 block of South Concord Lane and arrested Gerardo Mota, 36, on suspicion of driving without a license, failure to provide proof of insurance and failure to provide a license to officers. Mota was issued a citation.
  • 12:18 p.m. - Police investigated a theft report in the 500 block of West Meda Avenue.
  • 4:07 p.m. - Officers were called to the 600 block of South Hunters Trail on a disturbance call. Police arrested Kenneth Tillie, 51, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol and battery. Tillie was issued a citation.


Saturday, May 5. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

  • 1:02 a.m. - Authorities investigated a suspicious occupied vehicle on North Wabash Avenue at Foothill Blvd. and arrested Anthony Musolino, 25, on suspicion of disorderly conduct from alcohol. Musolino was issued a citation.
  • 4:26 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Grand Avenue. After conducting a vehicle search, police discovered bundles of copper wire in the trunk. After an investigation, police discovered the wire came from in Glendora and the subjects were arrested.
  • 11:06 a.m. - Officers were called to a parking lot at Louie Pompei Memorial Sports Park on a hit and run. Police arrived and arrested Timothy Stanley, 48, on suspicion of DUI, exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit and a hit and run. Stanley was issued a citation.
  • 2:11 p.m. - Employees at Vons, 431 East Arrow Highway on a theft in progress. Beer was allegedly taken by several subjects who fled northbound Bonni Cove Avenue in two vehicles, a burgundy four-door car and an older-model gray vehicle. Police were unable to find the vehicles.
  • 2:58 p.m. - Employees at , 531 South Glendora Avenue, reported a theft in progress. Police learned a man stole a few items from the store and fled in what was described as a white Chevy S-10 west on Route 66. An employee reportedly was able to take back the items from the rear of the truck before the suspect took off. Police were unable to find the man.
  • 6:28 p.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of East Sierra Madre Avenue and arrested Muaricio Gonzalez, 20, on suspicion of receiving known stolen property. Gonzalez was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • 8:57 p.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East Route 66 and arrested James Heck, 58, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol limit. Heck was issued a citation.


Sunday, May 6. Sgt. Scott Strong and Sgt. Matt Egan on duty.

  • 2:20 a.m. - Authorities conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of East Gladstone Street and arrested Aaron Luther, 42, on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. Luther was cited and released.
  • 2:53 a.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop on South Vecino Avenue at Route 66 and arrested Daniel Valeriano, 20, on suspicion of DUI. Valeriano was cited and released.
  • 3:21 a.m. - Officers were called to on West Gladstone Street at Grand Avenue. Sheriffs deputies pulled over a suspicious vehicle from which five subjects ran. Glendora police found and arrested all five subjects on suspicion of theft from Walmart, 1950 East Auto Centre Drive.
  • 7:41 a.m. - Police conducted a vehicle check on East Arrow Highway at Greer Avenue and arrested Richard Verra, 59, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance being under the influence of a controlled substance. Verra was held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
  • 2:35 p.m. - Authorities were informed of a at Vons, 431 East Arrow Highway. Two men were accused of stealing whiskey and fleeing in a silver SUV. After obtaining the license plate of the vehicle, police arrested the two men at the residence of one of the suspects.
