Police Blotter: Serious Accident, DUIs and Burglaries

Local police activity for the week of Sept. 5 to Sept. 11.

The following information was supplied by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Sept. 5: Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • At 4:41 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a reported burglary in the 400 block of West Route 66. Someone broke a rear window of a mobile home and stole some jewelry, Lamborghini said.

Tuesday, Sept. 6: Sgt. Marty Amaro on duty.

  • At 6:22 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a suspicious circumstances call in the 900 block of East Juanita Avenue. Officers arrested Steven Gant, 30, city unknown, on suspicion of receiving stolen property and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $20,000.
  • Glendora Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a at the intersection of Glendora Avenue and Gladstone Street about 12:30 p.m. He was struck by a Ford Mustang car. He was taken to County USC Medical Center, Amaro said.

Wednesday, Sept. 7: Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • At 6:02 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident in the 100 block of Lone Hill Avenue. Police arrested Anita Hammer, 63, of Glendora on suspicion of driving under the influence. A witness followed the suspect to a residence, and then called police, Lamborghini said. Hammer was cited and released.

Thursday, Sept. 8: Lt. Jaime Caldwell and Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 12:18 a.m. Glendora Police arrested Timothy Arellano, 32, of Glendora on suspicion of vandalism. Someone parked in his place in the 300 block of Meda Avenue and the suspect allegedly vandalized the interior of the car in retaliation, Caldwell said.
  • With children back to school, police units are concentrating on roadways near schools as part of the department’s Saturation Patrol program to keep youngsters on the streets safe. On 9-8, Saturation Patrol units were in the area of Washington and La Fetra elementary schools. From 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. patrol officers pulled over 14 vehicles for various moving violations.
  • At 8:33 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a fight in the 100 block of South Lone Hill Avenue. Officers came upon a domestic dispute and arrested Christina Kalka, 33, of Glendora on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, Summers said. She was cited and released.
  • At 11:59 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of an injury traffic accident at the intersection of Alford Street and Prospero Drive. A car hit a power pole. Officers arrested Dylon Todd, 20, city unknown, on suspicion of an alcohol-caused accident that injured a passenger. The passenger had a cut to the head and was transported to a local hospital, Caldwell said. Bail was set at $100,000.

Friday, Sept. 9: Lt. Jaime Caldwell and Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 10:20 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of grand theft auto in the 1900 block of East Auto Center Drive. Someone stole a 2008 Ford Explorer that was in a repair shop for work, Caldwell said. It was taken sometime overnight, he said.
  • At 6 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a burglary at the Kohl’s store, 1225 South Lone Hill Avenue. Police stopped James Reveles, 27, city unknown, in the parking lot. They arrested him on suspicion of stealing electrical devices. Bail was set at $20,000.
  • At 8:13 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a theft in progress at , 1950 East Auto Center Drive. They arrested Albert Roman, 18, city unknown, on suspicion of stealing video game controllers, Summers said. The suspect was already under suspicion in regard to a previous Wal-Mart theft, he said. Roman was held on $20,000 bail.

Saturday, Sept. 10: Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 3:38 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of grand theft at Kohl’s store, 1225 South Lone Hill Avenue. Officers arrested Sandra Mazzarini, 69, city unknown, on suspicion of shoplifting $1,100 worth of merchandise, Summers said.
  • At 9:30 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a party in the 900 block of West Bonita Avenue. Officers arrested David Gandara, 42, and Danny Gonzales, 52, cities unknown, on controlled substance charges, Summers said. Gandara is charged with being under the influence of methamphetamine and Gandara is charge with possession of methamphetamine, he said.
  • An injury crash on Glendora Mountain Road near Glendora Ridge Road was reported at 5:30 a.m. A 1996 Ford Mustang went over a 500 foot embankment. The driver, about 20 years old, was able to make it out of the vehicle on foot, but the other two passengers, a man and a woman, had to be resued from the wreckage by San Dimas Search and Rescue. The condition of the passengers are not yet know. Alcohol is suspected in the accident, as California Highway Patrol officers said they detected alcohol on the driver's breath.

Sunday, Sept. 11: Sgt Matt Williams on duty.

  • A grand theft auto report came in at 8:35 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a home in the 700 block of Northridge Avenue, where a 2006 Toyota Corolla was reported stolen.
  • At 8:54 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of graffiti spray painted on a train bridge in the 900 block of South Lone Hill Avenue.
