Police Blotter: Human Bones, a Robbery and a Police Chase

Local police activity for the week of Dec. 31 to Jan. 6.

The following information was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Dec. 31 Sgt. Matt Egan and Sgt. Scott Strong on duty.

3:34 p.m. - A hiker made a gruesome discovery near hiking trails in South Hills Park. Human bones were discovered in heavy brush of the park. According to Glendora Police, the bones, which have yet to be identified, had been there for “quite awhile.”

10:40 p.m. - Gunshots were reported in the 300 block of E. Claraday. Glendora PD could not locate the source.

11:09 p.m. to 11:19 p.m. - Fireworks were heard in at least three locations, in the 1300 block of S. Wabash Ave, in E. Gladstone and Bonnie Cove, and the 200 block of E. Kirkwall.  Fireworks are illegal in Glendora.

11.41 p.m. - Two people were airlifted to the hospital after their car drove off a 300-foot embankment on Glendora Mountain Road near mile marker 8. They escaped the fall with only minor injuries, according to CHP.

Tuesday, Jan. 1 Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Sgt. Scott Strong on duty.

1:31 a.m. - Glendora Police arrest Jeffrey Steven Joseph for DUI on 100 S. Washington Avenue.

2:06 a.m. - Glendora Police arrest Joseph Arthur Bernal for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in the 500 block of S. Barranca Ave. It is the second DUI arrest after the city rings in the new year.

3:55 a.m. - A stabbing was reported at 715 Galatea. Police arrested Christopher John Lopez, 26, in connection to the stabbing.

9:45 p.m. - It seems the New Year’s Eve celebration may have continued into the evening of New Year’s Day. Fireworks were heard in the 600 block of W. Bagnell Ave., although Glendora Police could not locate the source.

10:59 p.m. - Callers reported gunshots in the 100 block of S. Country Club. Glendora PD could not locate the source.

Wednesday, Jan 2 Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Sgt. Scott Strong on duty.

9:47 a.m. - Raymond Albert McEish, 66 was arrested at 133 W. Route 66 for disorderly conduct under the influence of alcohol

8:40 a.m. - A 67-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease was reported missing from her home. Glendora Police say she was found later that afternoon.

6 a.m. - Katherine Shampaine Hintz, 38, was arrested at 250 S. Grand Ave. for possession of narcotics and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Thursday, Jan 3 Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

3 a.m. - A man was reportedly beaten and robbed by four men in the 400 block of E. Colorado Blvd. One suspect was arrested.

9:08 a.m. - A commercial burglary was reported at Batteries Unlimited in the 600 block of E. Route 66. The suspect entered through the rear of the building and stole money. The amount of cash stolen is unknown.

5:13 p.m. - An injury collision was reported on Arrow Highway, west of Glendora Ave. There were only minor injuries reported. One driver complained of slight pain in wrist.

Friday, Jan. 4 Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

5:43 a.m. - A burglary was reported in the 600 block of W. Route 66. Blake John Parra, 22, was arrested for burglary and vandalism of property.

12:19 p.m. - A theft report was taken in the 100 block of W. Route 66.

3:04 p.m. - A theft report was taken in the 200 block of S. Barranca Avenue.

6 p.m. - Glendora Police investigated a theft claim at L.A. Fitness. Two men were seen going through gym bags outside of the racquetball court. Two iPhones were stolen from the bags.

8:21 p.m. - A woman claimed her boyfriend shot a pellet gun at her car as she drove away. PD investigating.

10:31 p.m. - A caller heard shots in the 900 block of N. Glendora Mountain Road. Glendora Police were unable to locate any gunmen.

Saturday, Jan. 5 Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

Two DUI arrests were made:

2:19 a.m. - Jessica Marie Kurth was arrested at Barranca and Cienega.

2:22 a.m. - Jason Ryan Boyett was arrested in the 400 block of W. Arrow Highway

3:58 a.m. - Luis Beltan was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

9:33 a.m. - Suspects allegedly took beer from a CVS store, 431 E. Arrow Highway, and fled.

11:33 p.m. - A woman called Glendora PD after she claimed to see someone attempting to steal her car from her driveway in the 2300 block of Club Vista Drive. There was a mysterious truck in her driveway, she said.

Sunday, Jan. 6 Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

12 a.m.  - Two burglary suspects led police on a vehicle chase from Glendora to Azusa, before crashing their truck on an off-ramp near the Vernon exit on the 210 freeway. The suspects then fled the vehicle and ran to a nearby neighborhood. The arrested suspects, 22-year-old Jonathan Demay of Upland and 23-year-old Michael Valadez of Ontario, were also linked to a burglary in Glendora.

1 p.m. - A couple in a distraction burglary in the 600 block of North Minnesota.

5:40 p.m. - Police asked for back up after responding to a dispute between a father and son. The father resisted an investigation by Glendora PD and was injured in the altercation. He was arrested at East Valley Hospital.
