Police Blotter: Grand Theft Auto, Shoplifting & Reckless Driving

Police activity for the week of Aug. 1 to Aug. 7.

The following information was supplied by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests to not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Aug. 2: Sgt. Matt Williams on duty.

  • At 9:04 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of grand theft auto in the parking lot in the 1200 block of East Route 66. The owner of a three-wheeled Can Am Spyder motorcycle left the vehicle in the parking lot on Sunday and when she returned on Tuesday, it was gone, Williams said.
  • At 10:23 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a landlord, tenet dispute in the 2300 block of Oak Park Road. Officers arrested, cited and released landlord Anthony Celeste, 53, of Glendora on suspicion of battery. The dispute took place in a rental house, Williams said. Williams said no one was hurt in the incident.

Thursday, Aug. 4: Lt. Joe Ward and Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • Glendora Police Department was contacted after a con artist unsuccessfully The two, who live in the 600 block of Hunters Trail, received a call about 8:30 a.m. from a man claiming to be their grandson. The caller said he had been arrested for drunken driving in Mexico and needed $3,000 for bail, Ward said. In listening to the man, the couple realized that he did not sound like their grandson. They hung up and reported the incident to Glendora Police.
  • At 3:03 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of shoplifting at Kohl’s Department Store, 1225 South Lone Hill Ave. Officers arrested Amanda Evans, 19, of West Covina on suspicion of shoplifting $200 worth of clothing and perfume. Summers said the suspect entered a dressing room with an empty bag and came out with a full bag before being detained by store security.

Friday, Aug. 5: Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 9:30 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of an attempted theft of a blender from Kohl’s Department Store, 1225 South Lone Hill Ave. Police arrested Richard Mena, 39, city unknown on suspicion of shoplifting. He was cited, then held on $20,000 bail because of a prior offense, Summers said.
  • At 2:57 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a car accident at the intersection of North Oak Canyon Lane and Canyon Road. Summers said the driver was attempting to climb a 60-degree hill with two passengers inside and the car tipped over. The driver was cited for reckless driving and released, Summers said.
  • At 3:24 p.m. a Glendora Police officer was conducted a pedestrian check in the 700 block of East Arrow Highway when the officer witnessed a man drop something. The officer determined it was a knife. Although the knife would normally be legal, the suspect that dropped it was a parolee and was not allowed to carry a knife, Summers said. Police arrested James Davidson, 27, city unknown, on suspicion of parole violation.
