Police Blotter: Graffiti, an Injury Accident and a Foot Chase

Police activity for the week of May 30 to June 5.

Monday, May 30: Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • At 10:45 p.m. Glendora Police were fresh on the . Contacted by witnesses, police officers were able to quickly converge on the school. They noticed two suspects run from the school toward a nearby residential street. There, officers were able to capture the two, Ward said. They are identified as Rick Tobar, 18, of Covina and a 17-year-old juvenile. Both are students at the continuation high school. Tobar was being held in Glendora jail on $20,000 bail. The juvenile was taken to Las Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey.

Tuesday, May 31: Joe Ward on duty.

  • At 12:47 a.m., Glendora Police, helped by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter and vehicle LOJACK system, located a stolen Land Rover SUV. The vehicle was reported stolen at 12:32 a.m. Tuesday from the 800 block of Essex Street, Glendora. The owner had been out of town for a few days and returned home to find the Land Rover gone. A Sheriff’s helicopter helped zero in on the vehicle’s LOJACK system and it was found at a Park & Ride lot near the 210 Foothill Freeway.
  • At 8:22 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of minor injury two-car traffic accident at the intersection of East Route 66 and Pasadena Avenue. One car rear-ended another and the driver of the car that was hit complained of neck pain, Ward said.

  • At 2:43 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a 1999 Ford Explorer stolen from a residence in the 1900 block of East Foothill Boulevard.

Thursday, June 2: Lt. Jamie Caldwell on duty.

  • One of , 1000 West Foothill Blvd, shortly after noon. The victim chased the two suspects before flagging down police who arrested Deejay Cole, 21, of Duarte and Andrew Magallon, 19, of Pico Rivera who are now in Glendora Jail charged with robbery.

Friday, June 3: Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 4 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a woman taking $115 worth of merchandise out of a Kohl’s store at 1225 South Lone Hill Ave. Police arrested Dianna Garcia, 19, on petty theft charges after being contacted by a loss prevention employee. Summers said the suspect was shopping with her mother. The mother paid for her items, but the daughter tried to leave without paying, Summers said.

Saturday, June 4: Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 11:13 p.m. Glendora Police responded to an injury accident at the intersection of South Amelia Avenue and Route 66. An 89-year-old driver turned in front of oncoming traffic, thinking that the light was green, Summers said. The driver, not identified as male or female in the report, sustained serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to LA County USC Medical Center.

Sunday, June 5: Sgt. Marty Amaro on duty.

  • At 9:17 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of items taken from a garage in the 500 block of East Northridge Avenue. Amaro said the home owner had left the garage door open.
  • A Nissan sedan, stolen out of La Verne, was recovered in the 1700 block of Deerview Street at 4:12 p.m. by Glendora Police.
