Police Blotter: Drugs, Thefts and DUI

Local police activity for the week of March 12 to March 18.

The following was provided by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, March 12. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Sgt. Matt Egan on duty.

12:43 a.m. - An officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of West Baseline Road and arrested the driver on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance without a prescription and displaying false registration on a vehicle. The driver was eventually released for a court appearance.

6:13 a.m. - Authorities investigated a missing juvenile report in the 600 block of South Marion Place. The mother of the missing son alleges the boy took the keys from her while she slept and left in the vehicle, according to Egan. A direction of travel the child might have taken was not known by the mother.

11:02 a.m. - Police investigated a grand theft report in the 200 block of East Canterbury Lane. A UPS box was stolen from the residence, police said.

11:32 a.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of South Lone Hill Avenue. Officers arrested the driver on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and violation of their parole. The driver was held without bail until being released for a court appearance.

5:17 p.m. - Police investigated a grand theft report in the 2300 block of East Club Vista Drive.

Tuesday, March 13, Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

6:55 a.m. - An officer on patrol conducted a vehicle check at Walmart, 1950 East Auto Centre Drive. Officers arrested Corey Labenske, 24, on an outstanding warrant involving credit card fraud, Caldwell said. During a vehicle search, officers found in the driver's possession tools typically used for graffiti. Labenske was eventually cited and released.

9:26 a.m. - Police investigated a theft report in the 200 block of South Grand Avenue. An iPad was allegedly taken from the unlocked vehicle.

10:25 a.m. - Officers investigated a theft report in the 700 block of South Tressy Avenue. Someone reported their ATM card was stolen from the location.

7:01 p.m. - A 19-year-old woman entered the , 150 South Glendora Avenue, and became angry at officers for an unknown reason. Officers inside the station said the woman appeared under the influence. She then left on foot northbound on Glendora Avenue, several officers went out on foot to find the woman. Officers eventually located and arrested Demi Gates, 19, on Glendora Avenue at Vista Bonita Avenue. Gates was booked on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Gates also had an outstanding warrant. She was eventually released for a court appearance.

7:27 p.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of East Gladstone Street and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving on a suspended license; he also had a warrant. The driver was cited and released.

Wednesday, March 14. Lt. Jamie Caldwell and Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

8:08 a.m. - Authorities investigated a graffiti report at , 1000 West Foothill Blvd.

3:39 p.m. - Officers were called to Walmart on a theft in progress call. Store officials reported a man took headlights from the store, unwrapped them as he exited the store and installed them on his vehicle in the parking lot, police said. As he began to back out of his parking space, officers arrived and arrested Matthew Hambleton, 31, on suspicion of theft. Hambleton was cited and released.

5:48 p.m. - Officers were called by Jan's Towing in Azusa on a recovered stolen car report. The company had finished impounding a vehicle from a private property in Glendora in the 400 block of West Route 66. After towing the vehicle, Jan's employees learned the car had been stolen out of Covina. Police began an investigation.

7:19 p.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop on Lone Hill Avenue at the 210 Freeway and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving without a license and failing to show a license to officers. The driver was cited and released.

Thursday, March 15. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

7:07 a.m. - Police conducted a pedestrian check on South Grand Avenue at Colorado avenues and arrested the subject on an outstanding warrant. The subject was eventually released for a court appearance.

11:17 a.m. - Authorities investigated a theft report at , 1830 block of East Route 66. Hygiene products were allegedly taken from the store, police said.

4:01 p.m. - Police were called to Walmart on a theft in progress. A man and woman were allegedly committing receipt fraud, according to police. The couple took items off the shelves that matched items on their receipt and attempted to get a refund for them, Lt. DeMond said. Officers arrived and eventually arrested Michelle Riddle, 31, and Chad Gireth, 45, both on suspicion of burglary. Both suspects were eventually released for a court appearance.

6:38 p.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Renwick and arrested the driver on suspicion of providing a false ID to a peace officer. The subject was cited and released.

Friday, March 16. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Lt. James DeMond on duty.

1:42 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop on East Route 66 at Pasadena Avenue and arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI and exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level. The driver was cited and released.

8:37 a.m. - Authorities investigated a graffiti report at Citrus College. Graffiti was discovered on the side of the Diesel Technology building near the S8 parking lot.

9:31 a.m. - Officers conducted a pedestrian check in the 1300 block of East Route 66 and arrested the subject on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and on an outstanding warrant. The subject was held in lieu of $15,000 bail.

11 a.m. - Glendora Police were called to , 1505 South Sunflower Avenue. School officials alleged they detained a student who allegedly brought a . Officers arrested the 17-year-old girl.

2:06 p.m. - Authorities investigated a vandalism report in the 100 block of East Route 66.

9:25 p.m. - Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of West Foothill Blvd. and arrested the driver on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia. The subject was cited and released.

11:11 p.m. - Authorities responded to an injury traffic collision on Manor Lane at North Lone Hill Avenue and arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of DUI causing bodily injury and driving with a blood-alcohol level resulting in bodily injury. A 19-year-old female was injured in the accident and transported to Kaiser Permanente, Baldwin Park.

Saturday, March 17. Lt. Rob Lamborghini and Sgt. Mike Randazzo on duty.

5:24 a.m. - Officers responded to a non-injury traffic collision in the 700 block of East Route 66. Police arrested the 20-year-old driver on suspicion of DUI and for exceeding the maximum blood-alcohol level. The driver was held in lieu of $5,000 bail.

10:07 a.m. - Glendora Police were called to the Parking Structure at the Marketplace on a report of a vehicle burglary. A window to a black Honda Civic was broken and a purse was taken, according to police.

5:34 p.m. - Officers were called to , 531 North Glendora Avenue. Store officials alleged they detained two theft suspects. Officers arrested Adam Hall, 20, on suspicion of burglary, and Ryan Brophy, 23, on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription. Both suspects were cited and released.

7:21 p.m. - Authorities conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of East Arrow Highway and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving without a license and failure to provide a license to officers. The driver was cited and released.

7:45 p.m. - Officers responded to a reported at , 180 North Glendora Avenue. Officers arrested Corey Tobin and Brett Tobin, both 23, on suspicion of battery. Both were cited and released.

Sunday, March 18. Sgt Matt Williams and Sgt. Mike Randazzo on duty.

1:26 a.m. - An officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of South Lone Hill Avenue and arrested the driver, Yazmin Moreno, 27, on suspicion of DUI, exceeding the legal blood-alcohol level and driving without a license. Officers also arrested second occupant Elvia Garcia, 21, on suspicion of public drunkenness. Moreno was cited and released, while Garcia was released after authorities desired no further prosecution.

7:54 a.m. - Police conducted a pedestrian check on the 500 block of East Route 66 and arrested the subject on a warrant. The subject was cited and released.

11:47 a.m. - Authorities conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of South Elwood and arrested the driver on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. The subject was cited and released.

2:55 p.m. - Officers investigated a graffiti report in the 1100 block of South Valley Center Avenue.

6:27 p.m. - Glendora Police responded to Radio Shack, 830 South Grand Avenue, on a theft in progress. A male suspect allegedly stole several walkie-talkies and fled into a waiting vehicle occupied by at least two other subjects. The vehicle was last seen northbound on Grand. Police were unable to find the vehicle.
