Police Blotter: Accidents, Fraud and a Burglary Thwarted

Police activity for the week of June 13 to June 20.

The following information was supplied by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, June 13: Lt. Joe Ward and Sgt Marty Amaro on duty.

  • At 12:46 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a minor injury rollover accident at the intersection of North Barranca Ave. and West Foothill Boulevard. The driver was headed southbound on Barranca and was going to turn left at Foothill Boulevard. However, the light changed to red and a northbound vehicle was ready to turn as well. The southbound car swerved as the driver braked and hit a parked car. It then rolled over. The driver sustained scrapes, Ward said.
  • At 12:59 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a shoplifter that exited the Home Depot at 1305 South Lone Hill Ave. The male suspect was able to get away by using pepper spray on a store employee who tried to stop him. Police were not able to locate the suspect. The police report did not include a list of what was taken.

Wednesday, June 15: Lt. Joe Ward and Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • At 2:10 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a woman’s wallet being stolen from her car while she was in a gas station at 106 East Route 66. However, when she returned home, the wallet was in her home mailbox. Unfortunately money had been removed from the wallet, Ward said.

Friday, June 17: Sgt. James DeMond and Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • Watchful neighbors helped to that occurred the night of June 16 in the 700 block of Galatea Street. Neighbors saw two men carrying televisions a popcorn machine a stereo and computer equipment from the home of a neighbor who was on vacation. They notified police and by 3 a.m. on June 17 both suspects had been arrested on suspicion of residential burglary.
  • At 5:55 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of check fraud at Wal-Mart, 1950 Auto Center Drive. Officers arrested Johnathan Allen, 21, and Porsha Redmond, 23, both of Realto on a charge of check forgery, Summers said. The two were held on $20,000 bail in Glendora Jail. The report did not state if it was a forged payroll check or personal check.

Saturday, June 18: Sgt. Matt Egan and Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 5:56 a.m. Glendora police responded to a non-injury accident at the intersection of Valley Center Avenue and East Arrow Highway. The driver was turning from westbound Arrow Highway to northbound Valley Center Drive when he hit a truck stopped at the intersection. Police arrested the driver, Scott Ethridge, 22, of Glendale on suspicion of driving under the influence, Egan said.
  • At 6:18 p.m. Glendora Police responded to the Best Buy store in the 1300 block of East Gladstone St. where an attempted burglary occurred. Someone tried to break into the store by force, but was unsuccessful, Summers said.
