Police Blotter: 9/11 Scam Averted, Kitchen Burglar & Graffiti

Local police activity for the week of Aug. 15 to Aug. 21.

The following information was supplied by the Glendora Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Aug. 15

  • Glendora Police are looking for The fraud involved a man telling the victim he was eligible for a large settlement from a relative who died at the World Trade Center on 9-11. Two men convinced an older victim to remove $9,000 from his account to receive the settlement. The three drove to America’s Christian Credit Union in the 2100 block of East Route 66. Several employees became suspicious when the victim tried to remove the large sum and contacted police.

Wednesday, Aug. 17: Lt. Joe Ward and Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • A Glendora homeowner returned home shortly before noon to find an intruder with a standing in her kitchen with a drink in his hand. The burglar did not see the woman who slipped into a bedroom and called Glendora Police. Officers arrived at the residence in the 1800 block of East Big Dalton Canyon Road and found the suspect walking around in the backyard. Read

Saturday, Aug. 20: Sgt. James DeMond on duty.

  • At 5:06 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of graffiti in the 800 block of Grand Avenue. The letters BSO was marked on a U.S. Bank sign using a paint pen, DeMond said. It appears to be the work of a tagger, he said.
