Pharmacy Burglarized in Early-Morning Heist

Thieves make off with cash, pills during burglary.

At the crack of dawn, a thief or thieves smashed into a pharmacy and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and pills Tuesday.

Police were called just before 6:30 a.m. by a neighboring business to Trinity Pharmacy, 1335 South Grand Ave. The caller reported a window was shattered to the front of the business. Just as officers arrived the pharmacy's alarm company notified authorities of the compromised window, police said.

Officers entered the business and confirmed the pharmacy was burglarized, said Lt. Joe Ward.

The city has seen a recent increase in residential and commercial burglaries.

Two homes were burglarized within a short timeframe and within a close proximity of each other . Radio Shack in the 800 block of South Grand was burglarized twice in three days . An off-duty police officer from an outside agency reportedly detained two would-be home burglars at gunpoint in the 1200 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue .
