Parolee Steals Bicycle From Glendora, Arrested By South Pas Police

After a brief struggle, South Pas Police detained a parolee at large Sunday.

South Pasadena Police arrested Pasadena resident, Charles Florido Romero, Sunday after he was stopped on a bicycle stolen from Glendora.

Around 8:03 a.m. Sunday at Huntington Drive and Fremont Avenue in South Pasadena, a South Pasadena officer conducted a traffic enforcement on a bicyclist who was later identified as Romero, a 44-year-old resident of Pasadena and parolee at large.

"After giving a false name, Romero jumped from the bicycle and ran from the officer to the area of Huntington Drive and Winchester Avenue in the city of Los Angeles," police reported.  "When confronted by the officer, Romero crouched behind a tree and small bush telling the officer he had a gun."

Additional officers arrived within seconds and took Romero into custody after a brief struggle. No one was harmed in the process, according to police.

It was later determined that Romero was not armed with a weapon Sunday. Further investigation revealed the bicycle Romero was riding was stolen from Glendora using burglary tools he had in his possession.
