Man Stabs Child, Teen in Unincorporated Azusa

Authorities are still trying to determine what caused a man to attack two minors Friday.

A man wielding a knife attacked friends and family, eventually wounding a 6-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, while visiting a location in an unincorporated area of Azusa Friday, according to the San Dimas Sheriff’s station.

The attack occurred late Friday evening in he 17800 block of Laxford Road. A 6-year-old boy suffered wounds in his face and body, causing minor injuries.  A 17-year-old girl was stabbed in the leg.

The suspect, Jorge Cornejo, 25 of Azusa, was taken into custody after a struggle with authorities.

Both victims were transported to a hospital and treated for their injuries. Cornejo was also treated for the injuries he sustained during the struggle with deputies.

The investigation is still ongoing.
