Man Sought in Sexual Assault of 7-Year-Old Girl

Covina Police ask for the public’s assistance in tracking down a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.

Authorities sought the public's help to find a man who sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl outside her home in Covina.

The crime occurred about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Covina police, who did not give an address for where the attack took place.

According to police, the girl was standing in her driveway when a man walked up to her, covered her mouth with his hand, and carried her to the side of the home, where he sexually assaulted her.

“The victim was able to bite the suspect on the hand, and managed to break free,” a police statement said. “She ran toward the front of the home and was chased by the suspect. An adult neighbor across the street saw the suspect chasing the victim and screamed at the suspect to leave the child alone.''

The man ran away and was seen driving off in a burgundy 2005 or newer Nissan Altima with paper plates reading “Wondries'' in black and neon green lettering. Wondries is a car dealership.

The suspect was described as white, between 18 and 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. Anyone with more information on the crime was urged to call Covina police Detective Tom Tardif at (626) 384-5623.
