Man Rescued After Car Tumbles 150 Feet off Embankment

The driver spent a day in the wreckage in the Angeles National Forest

A man was rescued after spending a full day in his wrecked car in the Angeles National Forest when his car fell 150 feet down an embankment near the San Gabriel Reservoir, authorities said. The accident occurred Monday afternoon, said county fire Inspector Matt Levesque.

Earlier this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer noticed tire tracks going off the embankment and stopped to investigate. He immediately called the fire department.

Rescuers responded at around 10 a.m. to San Gabriel Canyon Road, near mile marker 20 north of Glendora. Rescuers pulled the man from the wreckage after 90 minutes. Authorities said the man, who appeared to be around 50 years old, complained of back pain.
