Man Dies After Fall on 10 Freeway

Javier Gonzalez, a resident of Ontario, died on the 10 freeway in San Dimas, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

A 28-year-old man fell or jumped out the back door of a sport utility vehicle going about 65 mph on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in San Dimas, and died after he hit the pavement, the California Highway Patrol said today.

Drugs or alcohol were believed to have played a role in the death of Javier Gonzalez, a resident of Ontario, according to a CHP report.

The incident was in the left lane of the freeway just east of Via Verde Street at about 4 p.m. Saturday, according to the CHP.

Gonzalez was riding in a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by an aunt when he opened a rear door and fell or jumped out ``for unknown reasons,'' the CHP said.

Gonzalez was declared dead at County-USC Medical Center.
