Man Caught Swapping Price Tags at Glendora, Monrovia Stores

Monrovia Police arrested a man who allegedly tried to create his own discounts on items from stores in Glendora and Monrovia by switching price tags.

Prices weren’t low enough for one man who allegedly tried to purchase items by switching price tags with lower prices.

On Monday, Monrovia Police arrested a man who replaced the price tag on a welder with a homemade barcode that indicated a lower price at a Home Depot store in the 1600 block of S. Mountain Ave., Monrovia. A few days earlier, the man had successfully paid for another higher-priced welder using a tag with a lower price.

The suspect attempted the same crime at the store location in Glendora, but the cashier recognized the discrepancy and checked to verify the price. The suspect then walked out of the store without the item.
