Man Allegedly Beaten, Robbed of Cellphone

Glendora Police arrested William Fernando Vaca, 18, Sunday evening for allegedly beating and robbing a man on E. Route 66 of his cellphone.

Glendora Police arrested a man for allegedly beating another man and robbing him of his cellphone as he walked along the sidewalk of a busy Glendora street Sunday evening.

The robbery occurred at 8:22 p.m. in the 1000 block of E. Route 66. The victim reported that a man who he didn’t know attacked him and stole his cellphone, according to Sgt. Michael Henderson.

A police helicopter heard the call, scanned the area and spotted the suspect on the railroad tracks east of Loraine Avenue.

The suspect tried to hide the cellphone at the railroad tracks and flee, but was apprehended a short time later.

William Fernando Vaca, 18, of West Covina was arrested and charged with robbery.
