Malfunctioning Railroad Crossing Arms Snarl Traffic

Traffic backed up for over an hour before Metrolink could fix the problem.

Malfunctioning railroad crossing arms at Foothill Boulevard and Grand Avenue tangled traffic for over an hour in Glendora Tuesday afternoon.

The crossing arms stalled at around 1 p.m. causing a massive traffic jam at all four directions of the intersection for more than an hour, said Glendora Lt. Rob Lamborghini.  Police units and cadets directed traffic while Metrolink investigated the problem.

Traffic cleared just after 2 p.m., said Lamborghini.

It is unknown what caused the gates to malfunction at this time.

That is not the first time that has happened I have personally waited 10 minutes or longer for the arms to go up !!

The people have paid millions for the remote monitoring equipment ---first analog ---then 10 years later ---digital --- that CALLS the railroad and tells them the signals aren't working right ---WHEN was this call made and WHEN did the RR maintainer arrive.
