LA County Fire said initial reports claimed the fire began in a storage building. However, a Sheriff's deputy at the scene said the fire began in a homeless encampment. There was no one at the scene when authorities arrived.
"The preliminary investigation shows that it was started by a propane barbecue at the homeless encampment," said Sgt. Dave Grall of LA County Sheriffs. "There was no structural damage, it was all brush and trash. Nobody in custody."
