La Verne Man Arrested in Glendora Auto Theft

He ran after exiting the stolen vehicle, but was found and arrested.

A La Verne Man was arrested for grand theft auto Friday night thanks to the awareness and quick action of the stolen pickup truck's owner.

The theft occurred in the 400 block of East Linfield St. Glendora Police responded at 10:35 p.m. and later caught the thief behind a trash dumpster near the intersection of Elwood Avenue and Route 66.

Officers took Greg Moore, 50, of La Verne, into custody. He is being held without bail in Los Angeles County Jail.

He is a parolee, so he was not allowed bail, said Glendora Police Lt. Rob Lamborghini.

The incident began when a woman heard her pickup truck engine start up and then saw it pulling out of her driveway. She called 9-1-1 and notified police.

Numerous officers were called out and they were assisted by a helicopter from the Pomona Police Department. An officer spotted the stolen vehicle and tried to stop it at the intersection of Elwood Avenue and Route 66.

However, the suspect jumped from the pickup and attempted to flee on foot. After a short foot pursuit and search, officers found the suspect hiding behind a trash dumpster near a business.
