A woman injured in a bicycle crash near Glendora High School was airlifted from the campus to a trauma center Tuesday.
The woman, 51, was riding her bicycle when she fell head first onto the pavement at Foothill Blvd. and Verdugo at around noon, said Lt. Jamie Caldwell.
Although the woman was wearing a helmet, she sustained a cut to her head and lost consciousness at one point.
“Since she sustained a head injury, paramedics erred on the side of caution and flew her to a trauma unit,” said Caldwell.
A helicopter landed at the Glendora High School track to take the woman to L.A. County/USC hospital.
Caldwell said the woman’s injuries did not appear life threatening and that she was alert and conscious when she was taken to the hospital.
