Hikers Rescued in the Hills Above Glendora

Two hikers from Los Angeles were rescued by the San Dimas Sheriff's Station mountain rescue team. The hikers used a flash from a digital camera to help search and rescue team find them.

Two hikers from Los Angeles were rescued by the San Dimas Search and Rescue from the hills above Glendora. Both the Sheriff’s Department and Glendora Police are working on the case.

The two were being walked out with the help of rescuers at 10:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported.

The two, who have not yet been identified, got lost while hiking near Glendora Mountain Road at 6:25 p.m. tonight. They called Glendora Police Department by cell phone and said they got lost at dusk and couldn’t find their way back to where they started the hike.

The cell phone signal died before they could be identified.

Glendora Police sent some patrol cars near the location and turned on the flashing lights.

The hikers used camera flashes to help police see their approximate location, which was said to be well up the mountain.

The rescue team reached the hikers at 9:55 p.m. Glendora Police Lt. Joe Ward said a helicopter helped in the search.
