A man alleges he was assaulted by a transient near the Ralphs supermarket last Friday, police said.

In a police report given to Glendora Patch, the victim was leaving Ralphs around 7:30 p.m., Jan. 17, when two transients asked the victim for money. The victim said he would give them a dollar and then offered the men a cigarette, according to the report.

The victim sat down with the men and smoked with them near the Ralphs loading docks. For unknown reasons, one of the transients punched the victim several times in the face and knocked him over as the second transient watched in "disbelief," according to the report.

The victim was able to get away during the attack and ran home. Injuries sustained include bruising under the right eye and a small cut on the corner of the victim's left eyelid, according to the report.

The victim sought treatment at an area hospital where police eventually spoke with him.

The suspect is described as a male white between 45 and 50 years old with blond hair. He was clean shaven and wore dark clothing.

I call bogus. This guy is wasting GPD's and our time with his half stories. Go find some new homeless people to smoke cigarettes with because everybody knows that is normal (and apparetly this one doesn't want to be friends anymore).

So that's two "alleged" beatings by transients @ roughly Grand & 66 the same night, or are they one in the same? Neither listed on the city's "live calls for service" for the 17th, yet the Patch has a police report for one of them. There are a number of "pedestrian checks" listed for the area, as well as a reported "battery" there at 6:23 AM the 18th, but nothing about either of these. On the other hand, the fact that "Gene" started a thread about his "beating" (just a few hundred feet from Ralphs), got called out and never replied sends up a huge red flag. I agree something's not right, but can't decide who's BSing who. There are transient related problems all over the scanner, but they seem to be dumbed down/watered down when it comes to reporting on them, which sends up a red flag as well. Maybe they're just so frequent that GPD doesn't have time to, or finds it redundant to document all of them, I don't know. What I DO know is that we have a big transient problem that seems to have blown up recently, possibly due to the number of "non-violent" prisoners released early from prison in '13. Thousands more getting out early in '14 too, so stay tuned...

Watch what you say about the homeless in glendora. Glendorians love the homeless. Myself, I think we should all give them the cold shoulder and whatever other measures to push these useless vagrants out of our city. But you will get bashed by the "do gooders " here on the patch for talking smack about this problem. Assaults, forest fires, car wash murders and the do gooders will say the need rehab or our help. No way. Its really time for all glendorians to stand up for ourselves.. Maybe even boycott and picket the church's and soup kitchens that are drawing them here.. Stand up glendora..

I don't find the story suspicious... many people love to fraternize with homeless people, and smokers especiallly love to hang out with other smokers. Combine them together and we had a guy (the victim) who just wanted to chit-chat with two homeless dudes while smoking cigarettes together. There may be some details here and there, though. Maybe the attacker took advantage of the situation and wanted to rob the victim... or maybe the victim offended the attacker in some way... who knows.

I think if this really happened, the homeless dude probably jacked some dope or something from the victim. And that is why there are holes in the story. And why the hell would any normal person go sit at the loading docks with anyone they didn't know especially when outnumbered. Sounds like a drug putting with the homeless gone bad. And if really at the loading docks couldn't the police of seen what really happened on the tape? Cause Ralph's does have cameras..

A good percentage of homeless have either addiction problems, mental illness or both. You don't have to look far for a reason you're getting your a$$ kicked other than your dumb a$$ thought it was a good idea to go have a ciggee with a couple homeless strangers. Or better yet buying some dope from a couple homeless strangers.

Hope Sgt Henderson didn't investigate this because he thrives on profiling and judging people. He is a one man judge and jury...so unsat!!!
