Glendora Man in La Verne Burglaries to Face Sentencing

Jamie Wood will be sentenced after pleading guilty in the February burglaries of the La Verne Community Center and City Hall.

A Glendora man who pleaded guilty for breaking into the La Verne Community Center and City Hall and stealing $5,000, gift cards, movie passes and checks will be sentenced Aug. 13.

During his June 21 arraignment at a Pomona Superior Court, Jamie Wood, 39, pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree burglary and one count of possession for sale of methamphetamine, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

La Verne Police say Wood burglarized the buildings Feb. 19 and 20. The first break-in occurred at the Community Center, 3680 D Street, La Verne. The suspect later went through desks at City Hall, 3660 D St., La Verne.

La Verne Police say they were able to catch Wood after he allegedly called an automated phone number on one of the stolen cards. Police say they were able to trace the number to a Glendora address, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Police searched Wood’s home March 15 and retrieved the gift cards and restaurant gift cards stolen from the buildings.
