Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies arrested a parolee at large after he led them on a brief chase through the Walmart parking lot Wednesday afternoon.
At around 4:30 p.m., deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a newer model gray Honda civic off of Bonita Avenue. Deputies ran a license plate check on the vehicle and found that it had been stolen.
The driver of the vehicle fled and ran through the bushes alongside the railroad tracks going northbound along the 57 freeway, said Sgt. Pete Shupe.
Deputies set up a containment around Gladstone Avenue and the 57 freeway.
The suspect was found between Walmart and the freeway and was arrested.
Deputies would not release the suspect’s name, but said he was a parolee at large and charged with vehicle theft.
