Glendora Detectives Help New Resident Reclaim Guitar

A quick-thinking resident was reunited with his prized bass guitar after it ended up stolen … and turned up on Craigslist.

Zachary Rudulph had recently moved into his Glendora home. Not long after he settled in, Rudulph realized his $1,500 bass guitar and $200 guitar case were stolen out of his garage, said Matthew Fenner, Detective with the Glendora Police Department.

Not yet ready to give up, Rudulph scoured Craigslist to find his missing Carvin five-string guitar and case.

Craigslist is exactly where he found his missing property, Fenner said.

"Our detectives set up a sting. We set up a meeting with this person … and we used investigative resources to locate him and we contacted him at his residence [in Glendora]," Fenner said.

However, the man in possession of Rudulph's property was not arrested. Detectives are investigating the seller's claim that he was a victim as well, Fenner said.

The seller posts ads seeking to purchase old or used items and allegedly purchased the guitar and case from the thief. The seller tried to sell the items , allegedly unaware they were stolen, Fenner said.

Detectives are working leads in the theft case, Fenner said.

Rudulph has since been reunited with his property.
