Fraud Victims Nab Suspect

Victims bought forged concert tickets, but were able to trick the forger into meeting them again.

Two individuals who were allegedly scammed into buying fraudulent concert tickets were able to nab the suspected forger yesterday afternoon.

The suspect was arrested on the 800 block of S. Grand Avenue around 3:30 p.m. after being tricked by the victims to meet with them.

The victims contacted the seller through a Craigslist.com ad. They purchased the tickets, which came in the form of encoded, clear, plastic cards. The tickets were to a Halloween rave party, according to Lt. Brian Summers.

The victims looked up the card numbers online and they seemed to match up, but they checked again and realized the cards were not authentic.

After realizing they had been given fake tickets, the victims devised of a plan to confront the scammer. They made contact with the seller saying they were interested in buying more tickets. All three met on the 800 block of S. Grand Avenue.

When confronted about the scam, the suspect fled. Glendora officers were already in the area arresting a tagging suspect at 900 S. Grand when the victims flagged down the officers and pointed out the fleeing suspect.

Arrested was Robert Svob, 24, of La Verne, on fraud and theft charges. He was held on $20,000 bail.
