Four Injured In Two-Vehicle Crash on Gladstone

Minor injuries reported in late-night collision.

Four people received relatively minor injuries Tuesday night after both their vehicles collided and were sent into a residential fence and wall.

All four subjects are doing fine, only receiving minor scratches and complaining of pain. The driver of the SUV was put in a brace after complaining of neck and back pain, authorities said. The driver of the SUV also suffered a concussion and was transported by ground to County/USC.

The crash happened around 10:35 p.m. near the intersection of Gladstone Street and Valley Center Avenue. Both the SUV and a car were traveling westbound on Gladstone when they both collided. The SUV reportedly rolled over a couple of times, said Lieutenant Joe Ward.

The SUV crashed into a residential fence near the southwest corner of Gladstone just five, or six houses west of the intersection. The car hit a block wall close by, Ward said.

There were two female occupants in the car and two male occupants in the SUV. All occupants were out of the vehicles by the time authorities arrived, except for the driver of the SUV.

First responder Bernard Raymundo was informed by his mother that his 20-year-old brother was involved in the crash and arrived on scene. Another unit with his ambulance company, Cole Schaefer, was dispatched to the crash, but Raymundo was relieved of his shift so he could go and tend to his brother.

"I'm with [Cole] Schaefer and thats my area. My brother was the passenger of the SUV that rolled over," Raymundo said. "I showed up on scene as soon as my mom called and notified me that he was involved."

How the crash happened has yet to be determined.
