Foot Pursuit, Police Assistance Help Get Student's Stolen Laptop Back

Two thieves are arrested after snatching student's laptop computer.

Two thieves thought they were home free after one of them snatched the computer of a student working on his laptop outside the classrooms at Citrus College, 1000 West Foothill Blvd, shortly after noon Thursday.

But the thieves underestimated the computer's owner. The victim gave chase before flagging down police who caught the suspects.

Officers took charge at 12:30 p.m. and arrested Deejay Cole, 21, of Duarte and Andrew Magallon, 19, of Pico Rivera who are now in Glendora Jail charged with robbery.

“The victim was a good runner,” said Lt. Jamie Caldwell.

Caldwell said that after having his laptop snatched from his lap, the victim took off after two robbers who ran north through the campus and into a condo complex on Foothill Blvd. The victim noticed a police car and flagged it down.

He told a police officer what happened and pointed out the condo complex where he last saw the suspects. Police entered the complex and saw one suspect on the ground and another trying to get onto the roof of a condo.

Officers captured both men and took them into custody, and the laptop was returned to the relieved victim.
