Firefighters Knock Down Second Forest Fire Near Azusa

The fire burned about two acres off San Gabriel Canyon Road Tuesday night.

A brush fire that broke out in the Angeles National Forest above Azusa Tuesday night was knocked down after scorching about two acres, the second fire to break out in the area Tuesday

The fire on San Gabriel Canyon Road, alongside the San Gabriel Reservoir at mile marker 24, was reported at 9:30 p.m., said Ed Pickett, supervising dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It was unclear how long it took to knock down.

No one was injured and no structures were threatened, Pickett said.

An earlier brush fire burned about 40 acres north of Azusa in Fish Canyon Tuesday afternoon.

Almost a year ago, the Williams Fire burned more than 4,000 acres in the same area. That fire broke out in the Camp Williams trailer park off San Gabriel Canyon Road.
