Fire Danger Intensifies as Heat Wave Approaches

Single-digit humidity parches already dry mountain areas.

A Red Flag warning has been issued ahead of gusty winds, bone dry conditions and high temperatures for the local mountains and foothill regions.

The Red Flag warning will remain in effect until 9 p.m. Sunday, according to officials at the National Weather Service. A strong upper level high pressure system over the great basin is expected to bring hot and dry conditions to SoCal through Monday.

Heightened fire weather concerns will also continue through Monday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Gusty onshore winds, combined with low humidity levels will heighten the fire danger, officials said.

Temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees later Sunday, the temperature by 1:45 p.m. was already at 82.

Go, go GPD. It is nice to be appreciated, but even better when someone acknowledges it.
