Feud Between Brothers Ends With One Hospitalized, One Arrested

Suspect charged with assault with a deadly weapon in a Friday night fight.

A get together between friends and brothers ended up with a fight, Friday, and one victim receiving head injuries after an argument, police said.

Arrested was Anthony Connors, 29, from Glendora, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. Connors was held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

The incident was reported at 6:57 p.m. in the 400 block of West Sierra Madre Avenue. The group of friends and the Connors brothers had been congregating for a while that evening when, for unspecified reasons, the brothers began exchanging words, said Lieutenant Jamie Caldwell.

The victim then threw something at the head of Anthony, possibly a beer can, or bottle.

"He gets up to walk away and as he walks away, the bother picks up a shovel and hits him on the head," Caldwell said. The victim had his ear split open.

The brother is expected to be alright.

Fire fighters had called in a medic helicopter to transport the victim, but realizing the injuries were less severe than previously thought, medics transported the brother by ambulance to an area hospital.

Connors is scheduled to appear at West Covina Superior Court Saturday, August 14, according to county booking records.
