Driver Rescued After Plunging 300 Feet Near GMR

The driver in Wednesday's accident was airlifted to a trauma center.

A driver was rescued today from a car that went 300 feet over the side of a road in the Angeles National Forest north of Glendora.

The crash happened on Glendora Ridge Mountainway near Glendora Mountain Road around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher said.

The driver, a male who was the only person in the car, was in critical condition with a head injury and various fractures, a county fire battalion chief told a news photographer at the scene.

He was ejected from the vehicle and was found about 150 feet over the side of the road, according to the battalion chief, who said the victim was flown to County-USC Medical Center in critical condition.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
