Distraction Burglars Strike in Glendora

Man and woman pull a ruse on elderly woman, steal jewelry.

are investigating a reported distraction burglary that occurred earlier Tuesday.

The burglary was reported in the 200 block of South Barranca Avenue at the , across from at 9:42 a.m. A man and a woman approached the elderly female resident and inquired about her home that was for sale. While one of the suspects kept the resident talking, the other snuck into a bedroom and stole jewelry, said Sergeant Matt Williams.

When the elderly resident went to fetch something from the rear of the home and returned to the couple, they had already left, police said.

It was not disclosed how much jewelry was stolen, but the incident is initially being investigated as a grand theft, placing the value in excess of $950, according to police records.

The elderly woman reportedly did not see or hear a car leave the area.

The male suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 40s, over 6 feet tall, thin, dark hair, wearing a navy blue shirt and light blue jeans. The woman is heavy set, with long hair and wore a brown sun dress.
