Crime Blotter: Drugs, DUIs & Electric Lines

Glendora Police activity for the week of April 11 to April 17.

Monday, April 11: Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 8 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of graffiti at Whitcomb Continuation High School at 350 W.  Mauna Loa Ave.
  • At 8:34 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of gas siphoned from three vehicles at 903 E. Route 66. Police said the theft happened over the weekend.
  • At 9:52 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of an attempted residential burglary in the 1600 block of S. Bramhall Ave. Someone forced open a rear window, but police found no evidence that anyone entered the residence, Summers said.
  • At 10:38 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a man under the influence of methamphetamine and alcohol in the 300 block of W. Ada Ave. Police took Mario Cruz, 32, of Azusa into custody, but then released him to the custody of immigration officials. Officers learned that the suspect had been taken to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, but he ran out of the hospital after seeing an injection needle. He then began pounding on windows and doors along W. Ada Ave.

Tuesday, April 12: Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 4:53 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a two-vehicle non-injury accident at the intersection of Valley Center Ave. and Foothill Blvd.

Wednesday, April 13: Lt. Brian Summers on duty.

  • At 9 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of a four-car non-injury accident in the 900 block of S. Grand Ave.

Thursday, April 14: Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • At 8 a.m. Glendora Police served a search warrant in the 5600 Block of N. Rockvale Ave., Azusa. They arrested Steven Netzeband, 19, and Andrew Herrera, 21, of West Covina. Netzeband was charged with possession of a controlled substance and Herrera, with possession of a controlled substance for sale. Bail was set at $10,000 for Netzeband and $30,000 for Herrera. In searching the home, police found methamphetamine, cyclociben (also known as magic mushrooms), hashish, and Xanax (a prescribed drug). Lt. Tim Staab, investigator in the case, said Glendora Police handled the case because the investigation started in Glendora. He added that the suspects are former Glendora residents.
  • At 9:50 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a car accident in which a 23-year-old female driver hit a parked Toyota Camry in the 300 block of E. Juanita Ave. The parked car flipped over on impact. The driver was above the legal alcohol limit, Lamborghini said. Although she was not seriously injured, she was taken to a hospital for precautionary measures. No one was in the parked vehicle. Because she was taken to the hospital, she was not arrested. The case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.

Saturday, April 16: Lt. Rob Lamborghini on duty.

  • At 10:09 p.m. Glendora Police responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Grand and Gladstone avenues. They arrested Laura Torres-Houthland, 48, of Commerce on a DUI charge. The suspect vehicle was traveling northbound on Grand Ave. when it rear-ended a car stopped at the intersection. Officers determined the driver had a blood alcohol level of .30. No injuries were reported in the accident.

Sunday, April 17:  Lt. Joe Ward on duty.

  • At 11:14 a.m. Glendora Police responded to a report of electric lines hanging low where Barranca Ave. crosses the railroad tracks. A vehicle apparently clipped the lines, Ward said. Traffic was held up for a time, but Southern California Edison came out and fixed the problem, he said.
