Citrus College Receives ‘Suspicious Package’ Threat

A search through the campus' student center yields nothing.

The Citrus College campus student center was evacuated Monday morning when a caller insinuated that a ‘suspicious package’ was in the area.

The campus received the call from a male caller at around 11:45 a.m. and Glendora Police and campus security evacuated the student center to conduct a search.

The two-hour search turned up nothing, according to Lt. Jamie Caldwell.

While the campus has been evacuated several times before in the past due to threatening calls, warning of a bomb or a suspicious package, subsequent searches yielded nothing, said Caldwell.

“If it seems like a credible threat, we go ahead and evacuate the area,” said Caldwell. “We would rather err on the safe side than anyone get hurt.”

Caldwell said the department does not have any leads on who made the call to the campus Monday morning. The case is currently under investigation.
