Child Drowns in Family Pool

Police continue to investigate Christmas Day tragedy.

A 2-year-old girl died today after falling into a pool during a Christmas gathering, police said.

The girl was immediately rushed by a Glendora Police Officer to Foothill Presbyterian Hospital where medical staff worked to save the girl's life, but she died.

Police responded to the call at 4:43 p.m. in the 700 block of North Sunny Grove Lane. The girl had been missing for, what police were told, three or four minutes. Family members, including the girl's parents, searched when family discovered the girl at the bottom of the swimming pool, said Sergeant Scott Strong of Glendora Police.

Family members attempted CPR on the girl. Police arrived within 90 seconds and immediately took the girl and a family member to Foothill Presbyterian, Strong said.

The Los Angeles County Coroner has since been notified. Police are continuing to investigate.
