Captain Tim Staab Chosen as Glendora's Next Police Chief

From The City of Glendora

City Manager Chris Jeffers announced that he has selected Glendora Captain Timothy Staab to replace departing Police Chief Robert Castro as the next Glendora Police Chief. Chief Castro was recently selected by the City of Glendale to lead their police department.

Timothy (Tim) Staab has worked for the City of Glendora for 30 years starting in 1983 when he was hired as a Police Cadet. Over his career, he has held the positions of Police Officer; Corporal; Sergeant; Lieutenant and most recently as Captain. During that period of time, he has held a variety of special assignments adding to his wide breadth of experience.

Born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, Captain Staab earned his Bachelor of Science from Azusa Pacific University in Applied Leadership & Management. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and the first Glendora Officer to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Staab has been recognized as the 2005 Glendora Police Department Officer of the Year and received the Department’s 1996 Excellence Award for work as the Public Information Officer. He is a twice recipient of the Department’s lifesaving award.

City Manager Chris Jeffers stated “losing someone of Chief Castro’s level is difficult but we are fortunate that Captain Staab has been working alongside over the last two years helping to maintain the strong culture of service and can-do attitude that the Glendora Police Department is known for. Tim will continue the leadership and certainly build upon the successes in his own right so that the men and women of the Police Department serve our community proudly.”

Captain Staab’s appointment is set to be ratified by the Glendora City Council at the November 12, 2013 meeting. Staab is set to begin his new position on Monday, December 16, 2013.

“It is a great honor and privilege to lead such an outstanding group of men and women of the Glendora Police Department. Chief Castro has done an amazing job as police chief, and I plan to continue to build on his success.” Captain Staab continued, “I look forward to serving the residents of Glendora.”

Captain Staab, 50, and his wife Dawn have two daughters, Chloe, 22, an officer in the U.S. Navy and a recent graduate of the Naval Academy; and Annika, 17, an economics major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
